Flossie / Florence Bethany Maddock - des Cartes

Setting

I originally created Flossie for a steampunk Curse of Strahd DnD game I played in. Now she's an NPC in our sort of sequel campaign set in a slightly homebrewed Forgotten Realms setting (basically, little bit of steampunk added by virtue of it being a bit "in the future" of the current 5e setting and plenty of VR's guide / dread plane shenanigans involved).

Appearance

Flossie has tan skin and dark brown hair with green eyes. She is small all around, being on the shorter side and slight of frame. How robotic she is has changed throughout her timeline, but currently she is mostly robotic (face looks humany... that's it). She wears mostly greens, blues, and browns, but will wear anything that fits a fantasy / steampunk style (lots of 1860s to 1890s inspiration). For example, when tinkering she often wears a work apron and goggles. She likes wearing warm clothing no matter the season as she finds her construct form to always be cold and often wears gloves when in town to avoid looks and questions about her body.

Personality

Flossie is quick tempered and paranoid. She wasn't always like this, as most of the abrasiveness of her personality comes from her experiences in Curse of Strahd. She's working on her flaws, but it is a slow and long process. She can also be rather sweet and caring, but those moments are usually only with her family or closest friends. Now, her bearing has a certain tension to it, as if something is always not quite right. She is prone to sharp glances and blunt statements.

Relationships
Backstory

Flossie currently lives a retired-from-adventuring life with her family outside of town on a slime farm. She also works as a consultant for construct creation and treatment standards at Altasia Industries (the company that made my clockwork automaton character Ludcille.

Flossie was once an airship cook. She used the opportunity to travel and generally live a free spirited life, much to the annoyance of her older sister. This conflict intensified as their mother passed away from a long term illness, and she left on her next trip on bad terms with her sister. At the start of her next trip, the airship entered a mysterious wall of fog and was shot down by an unknown source. She found herself stranded with a small group of strangers in modified steampunk Barovia.

In the campaign, she accepted a deal with a dark power (three rogue modrons we just call the STEM GODS) which slowly turned her more and more robotic. This plus being stuck in a dread plane plus her own bad decisions slowly drove her pretty much insane. Basically, her relationships with her family are permanently scarred, but now that she's out of the dread plane she's starting to recover very slowly.
